Japanese technology giant Epson employed its cutting-edge 6DOF AR glasses-based tour guide solution, providing visitors with a brand-new immersive and interactive exhibition experience. This solution perfectly aligned with the CIIE's overarching theme of digital cultural tourism. This immersive 6DOF AR tour guide solution successfully implemented Epson's "Smart China, Green Future" theme for the CIIE and became a major highlight of the event. The solution was jointly developed by Epson and its ecosystem partner, Shanghai Xvisio Technology.

Large-scale exhibition displays require complex model rendering and multi-scene recognition, which places extremely high demands on computing power and poses a significant challenge for single AR devices. Xvisio Technology, in collaboration with industry ecosystem partners Alibaba Cloud and Parallel Cloud, has implemented a cloud-based, large-scale guided tour system based on lightweight AR devices. Before entering the large exhibition booth, visitors can quickly browse the booth layout using a full-scale virtual sandbox, select areas of interest, and plan their tour route using AR navigation. Once inside the exhibition area, AR glasses use scene recognition to present richer digital content beyond the on-site display, unlocking unlimited possibilities within a limited space.
3D virtual sandbox, providing an overall overview of the exhibition hall
The high-bandwidth, low-latency cloud rendering technology based on 5G enables the re-rendering of complex models in multiple scenes to be carried out in the cloud without being affected by the system computing power, thus achieving high-quality digital twin scene construction and presenting more delicate three-dimensional virtual models on the AR glasses. The video streaming enables a smooth AR experience.
Visitors wearing AR glasses can see a three-dimensional virtual world of the entire exhibition area. They can zoom in on the model to immerse themselves in it, or zoom out for a bird's-eye view of the entire booth. The virtual model remains fixed to their side, as if it were real. Visitors can easily interact with the model through head-scanning, gestures, and voice commands, quickly understanding the layout and structure of the exhibition area.
Immersive 3D space navigation
Based on Alibaba Cloud's large-scale cloud positioning technology, precise indoor navigation is achieved. Visitors use AR glasses to select their destination within the museum. Based on their location within the museum, through the three-dimensional mesh recognition and matching of the device and cloud, they can follow the cursor displayed in the AR glasses to quickly reach their destination, providing a wonderful visitor experience.
Scene recognition, digital expansion of limited space
In large spaces, Xvisio Technology's high-precision AR glasses platform, combined with cloud positioning, uses visual recognition to locate objects in space, achieving high-precision recognition of spatial scenes. Within the Epson exhibition area, visitors can use AR glasses to automatically identify their area and engage in futuristic interactions.

Leveraging industry-leading AR spatial technology, combined with remote technologies such as cloud positioning and cloud rendering, Xvisio Technology and Epson's AR navigation and guidance solutions for cultural tourism offer a one-stop AR cultural tourism space display service, from data collection, mapping, rendering, creation, to experience. In the future, this will enable a myriad of new possibilities, such as allowing visitors to watch missed live performances, interact with AR scenes to earn check-in rewards, and experience virtual historical figures as guides. These solutions significantly expand the application scenarios of the cultural tourism industry, unlocking unlimited possibilities within limited spaces through digital means.

The CIIE provides a window for communication between China and the world. This collaboration between Epson and Xvisio Technology capitalizes on this opportunity, leveraging the advantages of online and offline integration in the AR/VR industry and enabling the implementation of AR applications in the cultural and tourism sectors. This collaboration is not only a prime example of close collaboration between domestic and international companies, but also embodies the interplay of AR technology and traditional culture in the metaverse era. Leveraging Epson's optical display expertise, this collaboration holds broad promise for applications in industry, education, healthcare, and other fields.

Xvisio Technology As a technology company with perception and interaction technology as its core, Xvisio has accumulated dozens of technical IP reserves and multiple product platforms in the past few years. At the just-concluded Nanchang VR Industry Conference, Xvisio Technology released a number of AR HMD glasses and started cooperation with mainstream ecological platforms to empower industry application developers.

In the future, Epson and Xvisio Technology will further cooperate and make comprehensive progress in industries such as culture and tourism, education, and industry, and jointly create products and services that meet the needs of the Chinese market.
